Zambia U-20 men's national football team coach Hector Chilombo says he is proud of his players and the display they put up despite giving up an early lead to lose 2-1 to Ghana on Thursday.

Chilombo however added that he was disappointed that his team had exited the 2015 African Youth Championships at the group stage.

Dave Daka opened the scoring in the second minute but Ghana responded and equalised before the half hour mark through Asiedu Attobrah.

Zambia's hopes of progressing beyond the group stage were brought to an end when substitute Samuel Afful fired the Black Satellites in front with only six minutes remaining on the clock.

The Junior Chipolopolo who had shown determination and desire to win, were purposeful throughout the match and had Patrick Ngoma's goal disallowed for offside just before the break.

"I am very disappointed that what would have been our second goal was disallowed. It is painful to exit in such a way," Chilombo said.

Ghana and Mali qualified for the semi-finals from Group B on 6 points each while Zambia and South Africa who are yet to collect points were eliminated from the tournament.

Zambia and South Africa play each on Sunday at the Leopald Senghor Stadium on Sunday.

Ghana and Mali will square off at the Caroline Faye Stadium on the same day.
