Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. have strongly condemned racist abuse directed at their striker Tolu Arokodare following Sunday’s 1–0 defeat to Crystal Palace F.C.

The Nigerian international was subjected to racist messages on social media after missing a penalty shortly before half-time in the Premier League encounter.

In an official statement, Wolves expressed their outrage:

“Wolves are disgusted by numerous instances of racist abuse, from multiple perpetrators, directed at Tolu Arokodare on social media following today’s fixture against Crystal Palace.

There is no place for racism in football, online, or anywhere in society. We condemn this abhorrent and unlawful behaviour in the strongest possible terms.”

The club reaffirmed its backing for the forward, adding:

“Tolu has our full and unwavering support. No player should be subjected to such hatred simply for doing their job.

We stand firmly alongside him, and alongside all footballers who are forced to endure this abuse from anonymous accounts acting with apparent impunity.”

Wolves confirmed that the offensive posts have been reported to the relevant platforms and that the club will work with the Premier League and appropriate authorities to identify those responsible and ensure action is taken.

Reiterating their stance, the club pledged to maintain a zero-tolerance approach toward all forms of discrimination, underlining the continued fight against racism in football and society at large.
