“We would not have problems winning that game,” Finidi upbeat about playing South Africa
Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, believes his team has what it takes to defeat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier next month, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
South Africa, an old town rival to any Nigerian football team, will on June 7 play the three time African champions in Uyo, in what will be Finidi’s first game.
The newly appoint coach of the Nigerian team, Finidi although believes the South Africans having chunk of players their play at home will be bug strength to them, but the gaffer was also not going to over the superior quality in his team.
“We know it’s a difficult game, we played against South Africa in the concluded AFCON and we know their capacity.
“Most of their players play in South Africa but we know if our players give that 100 percent that we see them do in Europe, we would not have problems winning that game,” Finidi said.
“I believe with the form our players have and the way they are playing in Europe we will definitely have that form for those games. I think we are good to go and we just pray that we have that luck.”
Nigeria is aiming for their first win in the qualifiers in Group C after drawing their opening two matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
