Nigeria Super Eagles can still hope to secure world cup qualification after finishing second in group C of the World Cup Qualifiers, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Their four nil emphatic win over Benin Republic on Tuesday evening afforded the West African giants the opportunity for a playoffs

The Super Eagles thrashed the Squirrels 4-0 courtesy of a hattrick by Victor Osimhen and a crucial late goal Frank Onyeka to finish 4-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Osimhen opened score after three minutes played, hitting the ball well from a Samuel Chukwueze assist to give Nigeria a desired start.

He doubled the lead seven minutes after the half hour mark as a brilliant ball from Samuel Chukwueze found  the striker, who made no mistake to double our lead with a header as the half ended 2-0.

The search for more goals continued for the Eagles in the second half and on the 51st minutes Osimhen completed his hattrick.

Moses Simon gave a perfect right-footed cross, and Victor Osimhen rose highest to head it home for Nigeria's third of the day.

As the tie wore out, the Eagles remained calm and efficient until 90 and one minutes when substitute, Frank Onyeka sealed the deal with a half volley.

The Super Eagles will now face Gabon in the first semifinal on November 13, in Morocco.

If they win, they’ll meet Cameroon or DR Congo in the final on November 16, also in Morocco.
