Watford captain Troy Deeney says he believes that Nigeria international Odion Ighalo will remain at the club for at least the rest of the season.

Ighalo has netted 14 goals already this season and has former a deadly partnership up front with fellow marksman Deeney, the pair enjoying a great understanding of each other's strengths and weaknesses.

There has been talk that the 26-year-old Ighalo could be tempted away from Vicarage Road in the January transfer window, but his skipper says that is not going to happen.

"He ain't going in January. If no-one wanted any of our players, we'd be c**p. So, come and want him as much as you want but I know Gino [Watford owner Giampaolo Pozzo] and it just wouldn't make sense," said Deeney.

"Why would he sell a striker and want to stay in the league? The value of selling Odion for, what would he be worth? £20million, £25m? Or staying up and getting £200m? Simple business maths, he’s not going to sell him."
