QPR boss Mark Warburton is hoping Jordan Hugill can help provide him with a "potent attacking force" after signing him on loan from West Ham.

The 27-year-old striker made his name at Preston mainly at Championship level with 30 goals in 114 appearances before being signed by West Ham for £10million in January 2018.

Hugill's first-team chances were limited to just three appearances at the London Stadium and he joined hometown club Middlesbrough on a season-long loan 12 months ago.

I'm ready to go. I want to get my head down and make my mark here, which is something I need to do for my career.

He scored seven goals in 41 appearances at Boro as the side missed out on a Championship play-off place by just one point.

Warburton is now looking for him to pair up with his other new arrival, Jan Mlakar, to terrorise second-tier defences in 2019-20.

He told the R's website: "Jordan is someone who really can lead the line.

"We've had to be patient and wait for the right forwards to come along. It's been great to bring Jan Mlakar in from Brighton, who is a younger striker, and Jordan is a more senior player given his experience in this division.

"He arrives with real quality and, alongside Jan, I'm hopeful we have a potent attacking force now."

Hugill added: "I'm ready to go. I want to get my head down and make my mark here, which is something I need to do for my career.

"The gaffer knows exactly what I'm about. He sees me as a perfect fit for his team and, as soon as I met him, he had me straight away.

"He's a brilliant man and I'm happy to come to QPR and help the club."

Hugill is likely to feature when QPR get their Championship season underway at Stoke City next Saturday, where they are 4/1 to pick up three points. The Potters are priced at 3/4 to win and the draw is 5/2.
