Walker targets more silverware
Kyle Walker said that signing a new contract at Manchester City was an easy decision as he aims for more trophies with the club.
The right-back has signed a two-year extension at the Etihad Stadium keeping him at the club until 2024 and he said the decision to sign was an easy one.
I'm looking forward to spending the new five years here, hopefully winning more silverware.
Kyle Walker
"I'm thrilled to have signed a new deal," he said. "Playing for City has been everything I'd hoped it would be and more.
"It was an easy decision. I want to be competing for trophies, playing at the highest level, and I feel I have improved hugely as a player during my time here.
"The club's vision – both on and off the pitch – matches mine perfectly and I'm looking forward to spending the new five years here, hopefully winning more silverware."
The England defender signed for City from Tottenham in 2017 and has made 100 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side in all competitions.
Already since signing he has been part of a squad that has won the last two Premier League titles, last year winning the domestic treble of league, EFL Cup and FA Cup.
City's director of football Txiki Begiristain added that Walker has been a key member of the squad in his time there with his experience invaluable in helping younger players.
Manchester City, in their bid for a third successive Premier League title, get their season underway with a trip to West Ham on 10th August for a game against former boss Manuel Pellegrini. City are 1/4 to start with a win with the Hammers 10/1 and the draw 19/4.
The teams also meet in pre-season in the Premier League Asia Trophy, the match taking place in China with City also playing in Japan before they meet Liverpool in the Community Shield on 4th August.
City are 4/6 to win the Premier League for a third year in a row while Liverpool are 9/4.
