Van Dijk: ‘No-one will be able to replicate what Salah did for so many years’

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has paid tribute to former team-mate Mohamed Salah, saying he does not believe anyone will be able to match the Egyptian winger’s achievements over such a long period.

Salah spent nine years at Liverpool before leaving the club last summer.

The Egypt international now plays for Turkish side Trabzonspor, having ended his time at Anfield.

Van Dijk said: “I don't think anyone will be able to repeat what he did for many years.”

Liverpool’s captain was speaking after his side’s victory over Brighton. The result left Liverpool fourth in the English championship.
