Uzbekistan stay perfect in Group B
Dushanbe: Uzbekistan have firmly established themselves as the favourites for an automatic spot to the AFC U-19 Championship 2018 after registering a second emphatic victory in Group B of the Qualifiers on Saturday.
With their morale high after opening their campaign with a 10-0 win over Sri Lanka on Thursday, Uzbekistan followed that up with a 6-0 triumph over Maldives.
Their search for the opening goal, however, took 22 minutes before striker Jumakulov gave them the lead.
The second came in the 38th minute through Kenjabaev as Uzbekistan took a comfortable lead into the break.
Maldives had provided sterner resistance than Sri Lanka had but Uzbekistan were clearly the more superior team and they didn't let up despite the points virtually having been sealed.
Saitov scored their third eight minutes into the restart before Kenjabaev added his second of the match in the 60th.
Askarov scored their fifth in the 67th and Rakhimov sealed proceedings with his effort four minutes later.
Uzbekistan play Bangladesh on Monday and will be expecting another three points while Maldives will face Tajikistan.
