US Open Cup takes centre stage
There are seven games on the slate on Tuesday in the US Open Cup as the MLS teams join in the fourth round of the competition.
Two of the seven games feature all MLS matchups while the other five see USL teams hoping to pull one over the MLS squads.
MSU Park on the campus of Montclair State University will be the site of one of the MLS matchups as the New York Red Bulls entertain the New England Revolution.
The New York Red Bulls II of the USL make MSU Park their home, so this will not be unfamiliar territory for the hosts.
Over in Sandy in Utah Real Salt Lake will use their regular Rio Tinto Stadium for the visit of LAFC in the other MLS matchup on Tuesday.
Real Salt Lake has lost two in a row including a comprehensive 4-0 to the Red Bulls last time out.
Currently seventh in the Western Conference, equal on points, but with one more win than the San Jose Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake remains in a tight battle for a potential post-season place.
Not so LAFC who lead the Western Conference by nine points over the LA Galaxy. LAFC has lost just once all season, to the Whitecaps in Vancouver, and holds a 2-1 triumph over Real Salt Lake earlier in the campaign.
Looking to cause an upset will be the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, the Charleston Battery, Austin Bold FC, Saint Louis FC and Sacramento Republic FC who face the Columbus Crew SC, Atlanta United FC, the Houston Dynamo, the Chicago Fire and the San Jose Earthquakes respectively.
The Battery and Saint Louis will have home field advantage for the fourth round match ups.
Meanwhile LAFC are priced at 9/4 to win the MLS Cup with LA Galaxy 9/1 and DC United 12/1.
