Bayer Leverkusen has provided a much needed update on Victor Boniface's injury with the German outfit revealing that he remains sidelined despite been expected to be available at the beginning of the year, Nigeriasoccernt.com reports.

The return of the Nigerian has been delayed due a minor setback in his rehab as officially communicated shortly after the 2-0 victory in the friendly against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in front of a crowd of over 2,000 at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium which represents a warm-up match for the restart of the Bundesliga in 2025 away to Borussia Dortmund on Friday.

The lethal striker has been out for two months after picking up a thigh injury during the Super Eagles 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Rwanda.

A return date isn't in sight as the club continues to monitor his recovery with the second half of the season already in motion.
