The Philadelphia Union overcame a two-goal half time deficit on Saturday to defeat the New York Red Bulls 3-2 at the Talen Energy Stadium.

The Red Bulls had stunned their hosts in the first half, with goals from Kaku and Brian White to take the early advantage.

Kaku finished smartly with his left foot in the 29th minute, running nicely onto a ball laid off by Kyle Duncan.

White made it two 13 minutes later as a hopeful route one ball out of defense saw the 23-year old forward beat two defenders to the ball and loft it over the head of Andre Blake, who would have been more wise to stay on his line.

Jamiro Monteiro pulled one back for the hosts in the 60th minute and seconds later it was all square as Ilsinho equalized.

Ilsinho would then score what turned out to be the winner with a little under 20 minutes to play in the second half, reacting first to a penalty miss, as the Union moved four points clear of the Montreal Impact and DC United in the Eastern Conference standings.

Over in the Western Conference the Colorado Rapids moved off the foot of the table with a 1-0 victory over Minnesota United FC.

Kei Kamara scored the only goal of the game with a strong header from a corner to give the Rapids their fourth win in an unbeaten five-game stretch.

The result leaves the Portland Timbers bottom of the Western Conference, although the Timbers have played at least two and sometimes three games less than their rivals and have played all but one of their first 13 games on the road.

Union are 12/1 to win the MLS Cup with DC United 12/1 and Los Angeles FC 9/4.
