The Chairman of the Black Satellites of Ghana Osei Parma has confirmed the Satellites will play in a 4 nation tournament as part of preparations for the Mundial.
Ghana placed third in the Africa Youth Championship held in Senegal last month.
Third place meant the team were drawn against Panama, Austria and Argentina in Group B of this year’s FIFA U-20 world cup to be staged in New Zealand.
Ghana is the only African country to have ever lifted the coveted FIFA U-20 world cup trophy and will look to have a bite at glory again later this year.
“As part of preparations we will play in a four nation mini tournament in New Zealand before the competition,” Parma told GHANAsoccernet.com
“I can confirm Panama, Qatar and host New Zealand will all be part of the mini tournament before the main competition comes off.”
Quizzed if playing against Panama who are in the same group with the Satellites before the real deal could do them in, Parma affirmed they had all that under control.
“It doesn’t mean anything if we are in the same group with Panama and we still play them in the preparation games.”
Coach Sellas Tetteh currently has 21 players in Prampram but the number is expected to swell in the coming days.
