Nigeria's Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface opened his goal account for 2024 after his goal against English side, West Ham in the first leg quarter final of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Substitutes Jonas Hofmann and Victor Boniface earn victory for the Werkserf in their 2-0 win over the Hammers at the Bay Arena.

A cagey affair saw the two sides settle for a scoreless draw at half time.

The second 45 continued the same way  even after the introduction of Nigerian Nathan Tella and Hincapie who came in for Jerome Frimpong and Stanisic on 67 minute.

Boniface and Hofmann came in 10 minute later for Schick and Adli and the two made the needed impact in 4 minutes time.

Hofmann finally broke the deadlock to give the hosts the lead on 83 minute before Boniface picked cross to head in perfectly to put the icing on the cake with a 90 plus 3 minute.

That was Boniface's 5th goal in the competition and first this year since his return from injury at the beginning of January.

The victory gives the soon-to-be crowned German Bundesliga League champions  the edge as they travel to London for the second leg.
