In a challenging Champions League night, Nigerian forward Victor Olatunji gave Sparta Prague fans a moment of excitement with a late goal against Brest, his second in this season's European campaign, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Although Olatunji’s strike came in stoppage time, it wasn’t enough to avoid a 2-1 defeat, leaving Sparta struggling in the group-stage rankings.

The match began with difficulties for Sparta, as Edmilson Fernandes capitalized on a defensive slip to give Brest the lead just before halftime. An unfortunate own goal in the second half further widened the gap, compounding Sparta’s challenge.

However, in the 92nd minute, Olatunji, seizing a clever pass from Lukáš Sadílek, found the net to keep spirits alive, though the team ultimately couldn’t turn the tide.

Olatunji’s form has been a standout amidst Sparta’s struggles. Earlier in the season, he made headlines by scoring and assisting on his Champions League debut against RB Salzburg—a feat that established him as the first Nigerian to score and assist on a debut in the competition.

The 24-year-old forward’s tally now stands at seven goals and two assists across all competitions this season.

As Sparta prepares for their league match against Mladá Boleslav, Olatunji’s performances remain a source of optimism, with fans hopeful he can help the team regain its footing in both domestic and European contests.
