Nigeria Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella's vital goal consolidated victory for German Bundesliga Champions, Bayer Leverkusen as they progress to the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Tella's second-half goal and first UCL goal helped the Werkself to a 2-0 win over Sparta Praha at the Bay Arena on Wednesday.

Florian Wirtz got the opener for the hosts in the 32nd minute as Leverkusen led 1-0 in the first half.

The Nigerian forward netted on a rebound to double his side’s lead, capping off a dominant performance against their Czech opponents.

Tella who scored his second goal of the season played for 82 minutes following his exit for Robert Andrich.
