Nigeria’s U17 girls, Flamingoes have been eliminated from the 5th FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals ongoing in Jordan after they lost 0-3 to Korea DPR in their final group phase match on yesterday.

After a 0-1 loss to Brazil in their first game and 0-0 draw with England in the second, the Nigerian girls needed a win to remain in the tournament, but instead capitulated to their worst defeat in the competition and have to head back home.

The loss also means Bala Nikyu’s side earned the dubious record of Nigeria’s worst performance in a competition in which the Flamingoes reached the quarter finals in the last three editions.

R. Hae Yon scored in the 30th, 45th and 83rd minute to give the Koreans victory and progress into the quarter finals.

The Flamingoes are expected back in Nigeria on Monday.
