U17 AFCON: Eke expresses confidence as Nigeria target first title since 2007
Ahead of the U17 AFCON starting this weekend in Algeria, Golden Eaglets forward Light Eke said Nigeria will win this year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The tournament which also serves as qualifier for the world cup will see Nigeria feature in group B alongside Zambia, Morocco and South Africa.
With many eyes on the team which is arguably the youngest we've seen Nigeria produce at the tournament Eke full of confidence said Nigeria will come out victorious at the end.
“Based on our preparation I know that we are very ready for this tournament,” Eke said on NFF TV. “In our group we have opponents that we know and who are very good.
“But like I said based on our preparation we came here knowing that we are going to win the trophy and also qualify for the World Cup.
“So all we are going to do is play according to the coaches instructions and give our best throughout the tournament."
Nigeria will kickoff her campaign against Zambia on Sunday, April 30.
The top four teams from the U-17 AFCON will pick the ticket for the World Cup.
The Golden Eaglets are seeking for their first title since 2007 and could achieve it this year going be the determination seen from the boys so far.
