Troost-Ekong marks decade of Super Eagles service after Russia friendly
Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has celebrated a decade since his international debut for Nigeria, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.
The 31-year-old centre-back marked the milestone on social media, reflecting on his journey with the national team.
Troost-Ekong made his Super Eagles debut against Chad on June 13, 2015, under the late coach Stephen Keshi.
He expressed gratitude to Keshi for the opportunity, saying, "I will never forget the 'Big Boss' Stephen Keshi for believing in me."
The defender has since become a key player, earning 79 caps and captaining the team.
He succeeded Ahmed Musa as captain and has represented Nigeria in five major tournaments, winning three medals.
Troost-Ekong shared his thoughts on social media, highlighting his pride in leading the team: "10 years representing Nigeria... 79 caps, 5 major tournaments, 3 medals later. It is my biggest pride to be the captain of this nation & team."
