As anticipated by Mexican sport journalist Willie Gonzalez on his Twitter account, Toluca is currently in a negotiations with Tigres to bring back Uruguayan midfielder Leo Fernandez, as the player did not receive enough playing time while with the Monterrey side.

Fernandez showed his best football during his first spell at Toluca, where he scored 8 goals in just 10 matches and is the main reason why the Diablos Rojos would like to have him back in the squad for the upcoming Apertura tournament. According to the report, Tigres would prefer to close a deal for a permanent move, but are open to a loan with option to buy if need be. Toluca, reportedly, are prepared to offer $9M for the player, while trying to avoid having to pay the player's $15M release clause. UANL coach Miguel Herrera declared he prefers Nicolas Lopez to Leo Fernandez, something which could ease negotiations between the two sides.
