Nigeria descent Francis Onyeka has today completed a season long loan to VfL Bochum from Bayer Leverkusen after extending his contract until 30 June 2028 with an additional 12 months to run, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

"Our squad will change and be significantly younger. Francis Onyeka is one of the most talented players of his age group in Germany and has had an exceptional season. His technical skills and attacking drive have piqued our interest, especially since he has already adapted to a high level of training and play with the senior team and has also already taken on responsibility as captain of the U19 team", Dirk Dufner, Sporting Director at VfL Bochum 1848 revealed.

"I was here last year and was impressed by the atmosphere – absolutely amazing. VfL has very passionate fans, whom we naturally want to inspire. Personally, I hope to impress and gain as much playing time as possible. The 2. Bundesliga is physically demanding, so it will be a real challenge", Francis Onyeka stated.

Despite been in Bayer Leverkusen first team's matchday squad on several occasions, he is yet to have a taste of Bundesliga action but his experience in both the DFB Cup (against SV Elversberg) and the Champions League group stage (against FC Red Bull Salzburg) will be helpful as VfL Bochum would be fighting for top-flight promotion.
