Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko will not return to training until April after undergoing surgery on his right knee on Tuesday, the club announced in a statement.
The 30-year-old damaged the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during the club's 1-1 draw with Southampton on New Year's Day.
"Our medical staff will monitor Moussa's recovery before he commences rehabilitation with a view to returning to training in early April," the club said.
The diagnosis means that Sissoko will miss both legs of the Champions League clash against RB Leipzig in February and March but could be back before the end of the Premier League season which runs until May 17.
The France international will also be hoping to return to fitness so he can compete for a place on the French team for Euro 2020.
