Tottenham’s first Premier League point fails to end scoring drought at Nottingham Forest

Tottenham Hotspur remain without a goal after three Premier League matches this season following a goalless draw at Nottingham Forest, although the point at least ended a difficult opening run for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

The London club had lost both of their opening league fixtures by an aggregate score of 5-0. That poor start meant Tottenham travelled to Nottingham Forest in a subdued mood, with the team still searching for its first goal and first point of the campaign.

They improved their points tally at the City Ground, but could not find the breakthrough. The result leaves Tottenham with one point from their first three Premier League fixtures, while Nottingham Forest have two points. Neither side has made a strong start to the season.

The opening half produced little attacking excitement. Tottenham had the greater share of possession and were able to control more of the ball, but their dominance did not lead to clear opportunities. The visitors managed four attempts without putting any of them on target.

Nottingham Forest were more willing to test the Tottenham defence, recording seven efforts during the first half. However, only one of those attempts was directed at goal, and neither team was able to create the decisive moment required to break the deadlock.

The score remained 0-0 at the interval, with Tottenham’s inability to turn possession into shots on target once again evident.

The visitors showed greater attacking intent after the restart and managed to raise their level. Their improvement, however, was briefly overshadowed when Nottingham Forest appeared to take the lead in the 66th minute.

The goal was ruled out after the officials determined that the ball had struck a Nottingham Forest player’s hand. Tottenham were spared from falling behind, and the disallowed goal ensured the contest remained level.

Neither side could produce a legal winner during the remaining minutes. The final whistle confirmed a 0-0 draw, extending Tottenham’s wait for a goal to a third consecutive Premier League match.

For De Zerbi, the result provides a first point after two defeats, but it offers limited relief given Tottenham’s continued problems in front of goal. The team have now conceded five goals across their opening two matches while failing to score in any of their three fixtures.

Nottingham Forest also had to settle for a draw despite having the only apparent goal of the match. Their total stands at two points, leaving both teams still seeking their first league victory of the season.
