Tottenham add Tosin Adarabioyo to defence after difficult Premier League start

Tottenham have signed central defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea, with the 28-year-old joining the club after two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League club announced Adarabioyo as their latest new arrival, although the length of his contract has not been disclosed. Transfermarkt reports that the transfer fee was more than €8m.

Adarabioyo made 70 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions during his two-year spell with the club. The England-born defender scored seven goals and provided one assist across those matches.

He began his career at Manchester City before later representing Fulham, where he established himself as a senior central defender. His move to Tottenham now takes him back into a new Premier League environment following his time with Chelsea.

The signing comes as Tottenham seek to strengthen their squad after a poor opening to the new Premier League campaign. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have lost both of their first two matches, leaving them without a point from their opening fixtures.

Tottenham’s next game is away to Nottingham Forest on 5 September, when Adarabioyo could be in contention to make his debut for the club.
