Tosin Adarabioyo poised for Chelsea exit as Tottenham move advances

Tosin Adarabioyo is close to joining Tottenham from Chelsea after the two clubs reached an agreement over a permanent transfer for the 28-year-old central defender, according to journalist David Ornstein.

The England-born defender has also given his approval to the move and has been authorised to undergo a medical as Tottenham seek to complete the deal. The transfer is therefore at an advanced stage, although the available information does not indicate that it has yet been formally finalised.

The agreement between Tottenham and Chelsea covers a full transfer rather than a loan. Adarabioyo’s decision to accept the move means the remaining process can progress with the medical examination and the final steps required to conclude the switch.

Adarabioyo joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024 and has made 70 appearances for the club in all competitions. During that time, he has scored seven goals and provided one assist.

His departure would bring an end to his spell at Chelsea after two years with the club. Tottenham’s agreement with their London rivals would see the defender move directly across the capital, subject to the completion of the medical and the formal completion of the transfer.

Chelsea winger Mikhail Mudryk could also make the same move. His loan transfer to Tottenham has reportedly been agreed, meaning the Ukrainian may follow Adarabioyo to Spurs.

The two deals are separate: Adarabioyo is expected to join Tottenham on a permanent basis, while Mudryk’s proposed move would be a loan. Adarabioyo has already agreed to the personal terms of his transfer, while Mudryk’s temporary switch has also been described as agreed.

For now, Adarabioyo remains a Chelsea player until the formal requirements of the transfer have been completed. The permission for him to have a medical represents the latest step in the process and indicates that Tottenham are close to confirming the signing.

The defender’s record at Chelsea includes seven goals and one assist across his 70 appearances. Tottenham’s move would give the club an opportunity to add a player with recent Premier League experience, while Chelsea would see one of their central defenders leave on a permanent deal.

Mudryk’s potential arrival would add another possible change between the two clubs, but his proposed transfer differs from Adarabioyo’s because it is based on a loan agreement. Both moves have been linked with Tottenham, with Adarabioyo’s transfer currently the more advanced towards completion.
