LEE TRUNDLE, a top football journalist in South Wales, where Swansea City are based, is tipping Ghana star Andre Ayew for big things in the English Premier League.

Ayew made his Premier League debut on Saturday scoring for the Swans in their impressive 2-2 away draw against champions Chelsea.

Trundle has followed Andre Ayew more than any journalist since he switched from French side Marseille over the summer as he has travelled with the team for all their pre-season matches. The top hack is convinced Ayew will take the Premier League by storm;

Below is the full version of Trundle's thoughts on Ayew:

ANDRE Ayew could be about to light up the Premier League, from what I've seen in training.

I have been impressed with all four of the signings to arrive at Swansea City over the summer — but Ayew in particular stands out.

Maybe the new lads have not made too much of an impression on supporters during warm-up matches.

But for a professional, friendlies are a totally different proposition to a competitive game.

Although the aim is always to win, there's no way you'd put your body on the line in pre-season.

No player is going to stick their head in where it hurts or steam into a challenge because the risk of injury is so great.

The last thing you want is to get injured and miss the start of the campaign. There's a risk of not getting your place back when fit, and that is especially true at Swansea where competition for places is so fierce.

It's both what Ayew does on the ball and the work he does off it that has caught my eye over the last month or so.

He has some serious skills and is a very neat finisher so should score quite a few goals this season. But he also looks to have the intelligence to create goals for others.
