Everton have seemingly called an end to their efforts to try and sign wing wizard Wilfried Zaha from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

The Toffees saw an initial bid for the Ivory Coast international turned down by the Eagles, before reports surfaced suggesting that a second offer had been tabled.

A bid was made over the weekend which was turned down and both clubs agreed that was the end of the matter.

However, the Goodison Park outfit have now confirmed that no improved package was offered to Palace, with Everton considering that the 'end of the matter'.

A statement from the Toffees read: "Everton Football Club categorically denies that a bid has been submitted to Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha that included an increased sum plus Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy.

"Everton and Crystal Palace have a very good relationship.

"A bid was made over the weekend which was turned down and both clubs agreed that was the end of the matter."

Twenty-five-year-old Zaha is currently in his second spell with Palace, having been unable to make an impact during a two-year stint with Manchester United.

Last season he scored ten goals in 34 Premier League appearances for the Eagles, being a key player for his side as they powered clear of relegation danger to eventually finish in 12th place in the table.

Palace have signed both goalkeeper Stephen Henderson and forward Jordan Ayew this summer, while losing rising star Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United.

The Londoners are 5/1 to be relegated this season, while they are 1/8 to avoid the drop.
