Tekena Garando was on the score sheet on Monday as Bayelsa United returned to winning ways in their Nigeria Premier Football League match day 18 fixture against Bendel Insurance, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Garando's goal in the first half and another goal in the second half by Eyong Nneoyi Ofem sealed maximum points for the Prosperity Boys at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

The South-South derby began in full swing with the hosts initiating the first attack after Kehinde Malik's shot was saved by Insurance's goalkeeper Amos Obasogie.

In the 18th minute, the goal came. Former Abia Warriors midfielder, Tekena Garando connected nicely to Oginni Olatunbosun's corner kick with his head to give the home side the lead and score his second goal of the season.

Bayelsa United kept dominating to increase the lead, but the score stood at 1-0 at half time.

In the second half, the two teams continued to push for a goal, but the score remained the same while the coaches made some changes.

Bayelsa Coach, Meremu Okara brought in Wisdom Magbisa and Israel Consul for John Bassey and the goal scorer Garando Tekena.

And Consul made huge impact after his introduction as his cross in the 90th minute was scored by Ofem Emmanuel to end the encounter 2-0, giving Bayelsa United their first win in 5 matches.
