Tajikistan, Yemen draw to keep hopes alive
Hisor: Tajikistan and Yemen failed to take advantage of the Philippines’ draw with Nepal as the pair also shared a goalless stalemate on Tuesday to leave three teams still in the hunt for the two AFC Asian Cup 2019 qualification places from Group F heading into the final round of fixtures next March.
Both sides had their chances at Hisor Central Stadium, but were unable to find a breakthrough.
And after the Philippines earlier missed their chance to secure qualification for the 2019 tournament in the United Arab Emirates with a 0-0 draw in Kathmandu, the final round of fixtures will decide the identity of the two qualifiers.
The Philippines still top the table with a two-point cushion over Yemen and Tajikistan, and simply need to avoid defeat by Tajikistan at home next March to be sure of their progress.
Yemen also face already eliminated Nepal knowing victory will guarantee their progress regardless of the result in the Philippines.
