Tagliafico weighs Argentina return as Lyon contract approaches expiry
Nicolas Tagliafico has suggested he could return to Argentina as he enters the final months of his contract with Olympique Lyon.
The 34-year-old left-back’s current agreement with the French club runs until June 2027, but he says family considerations may play an important part in deciding his next move.
Speaking to Infobae, Tagliafico said starting a family could make a return home more appealing, allowing him to live closer to his relatives.
The Argentina international joined Olympique Lyon from Ajax in 2022, having moved to European football four years earlier. Since arriving in France, he has become an important presence for the club both on and off the pitch.
Tagliafico has made 84 appearances for Argentina and scored once. He was part of the team that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup and also helped the Albiceleste claim consecutive Copa America titles in 2021 and 2024.
