Taggart feels for Aloisi
Striker Adam Taggart says he feels disappointed Brisbane Roar's form cost coach John Aloisi his job.
Aloisi resigned on 28th December, the day before the trip to Sydney FC. The Roar, who immediately appointed Darren Davies as caretaker coach, lost that game 2-1 to the defending premiers.
They stopped the rot, after five consecutive defeats, when they held Newcastle Jets to a 2-2 draw at McDonald Jones Stadium on Wednesday.
Brisbane face a tough task to get back into the Final Series spots as they're now eight points off the top six. They've also played a game more than any of the top-six sides and have a significantly worse goal difference.
Davies has never been a head coach at senior level before, but spent five years as assistant at Melbourne Victory before joining the Roar last year.
Taggart, who is second in the goalscoring charts with seven from 11 appearances, says the players feel they let Aloisi down.
"As individuals we weren't performing as well as what we could be," he said. "I've definitely not been playing the sort of football that I know I can this year and I'm sure everyone would probably say the same about themselves.
"It's been a difficult period and I think for John, who worked really hard for us, it was disappointing on our behalf to have not been able to do more for him to stick around."
Taggart, who scored one of the goals that earned the draw in Newcastle, says there's been no departure from Aloisi's style under Davies.
"Obviously Darren's worked with John all pre-season, so he's continued a lot of the things we've been working on," added the former Perth Glory forward.
Brisbane Roar are 2/1 to win their next game against Perth, who are 11/8 with the draw 12/5.
