Swansea captain Ashley Williams has welcomed the capture of Andre Ayew as a free agent on a four-year deal.

Ayew joined Swansea on a free transfer after seeing his deal with French side Marseille come to an end.

Williams has welcomed the Ghana international's arrival as he believes they were short on options in attack last season and the defender says he will help the forward adapt to life with Swansea.

He told the South Wales Evening Post: "I don't know too much about him at the minute. Obviously I know who he is and I've seen the news but I'm focusing on Wales [who host Belgium in a vital Euro 2016 qualifier on Friday].

"I welcome him in as I do every player and I hope he has a good season. He comes with a good reputation and we needed some more firepower up front to help Bafe [Gomis].

"I'll do my best to help him settle in as quickly as possible at Swansea."
