Super Eagles set for Ikot Ekpene training ahead of Madagascar clash

The Super Eagles will hold their first training session in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday as Nigeria steps up preparations for its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Nigeria will begin its group programme against Madagascar on Friday, 25 September, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Promise Efoghe, the Super Eagles’ media officer, announced the team’s schedule on Monday evening.

The opening 15 minutes of Tuesday’s session will be open to members of the media for coverage. The full squad will then meet journalists for exclusive interviews on Wednesday at the team’s base in Ikot Ekpene.

The three-time African champions will use the training period to refine their tactics and build their physical readiness before facing the Barea of Madagascar.

Nigeria will travel to Guinea-Bissau for its second qualifying fixture on Tuesday, 29 September, after Friday’s opening match.

The Super Eagles go into the meeting with Madagascar having won their last three encounters against the Barea.

Madagascar have already arrived in Uyo for Friday’s fixture.
