Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has joined English Championship club Queen Parks Rangers as a free agent on a year deal.

Balogun left the Scottish Premier League side Glasgow Rangers last season after the expiration of his contract.

The former Mainz 05 defender joined QPR on Friday and reunited with former coach Mick Beale at Loftus Road.

"It is a big relief to know I can get back to action and I am looking forward to it,” he said.

“I am quite aggressive, I am a fighter and I think I can read the game quite well.

“Overall, loads come from my mentality and work ethic – never to give up and work hard for the things you strive for."

While with Rangers Balogun won the Scottish Premier League, Scottish Cup and played in the final of the Europa League where they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt.
