Sunshine Stars narrowly edge out 10-man Enyimba 2-1 in a rescheduled NPFL game on Wednesday, to lift the Owena Waves to 16th place on the table and a flicker of hope they can salvage their season.

Isiaka Oladuntoye headed Sunshine in front before former Sharks FC defender Chima Akas equalized for Enyimba in the first half.

Meanwhile, the match winner came in late on the 84 minute as Seun Olulayo laid the ball on the path of teammate Okii Afolabi to bury the idea of back to back wins for the Champions League returnees.

Paul Aigbogun’s men had on Sunday made light work of Etoile du Sahel in the first leg of their final round of qualifying but there’d be no sending off against their opponents on the day as Enyimba ended up on the receiving end this time when Ifeanyi Anaemena got his second booking for a foul on Benjamin Francis.
