It was a bad day at the office on Saturday for the three sides chasing LAFC atop the Western Conference.

The Seattle Sounders drew with the New England Revolution and Minnesota United and the San Jose Earthquakes both lost.

Seattle were held to a 3-3 draw at home by the New England Revolution. The latter have been transformed under new manager Bruce Arena, but even still, the Sounders will be disappointed to have dropped two points.

A late penalty from Carles Gil gave the visitors the share of the spoils after Seattle had rallied to take the lead in the second half. Now 13 points behind LAFC, who host the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, the Sounders face a potentially tricky trip to take on Real Salt Lake this week.

Real Salt Lake are sixth in the standings after winning on the road against Sporting Kansas City.

Meanwhile FC Dallas were taking care of Minnesota United with a 5-3 triumph. Brandon Servania scored twice for the hosts with Ryan Hollingshead, Hárold Mosquera and Reggie Cannon also on target.

It was an important win for Dallas as it kept them ahead of the Portland Timbers, 3-1 winners over the Vancouver Whitecaps, in the postseason places in the Western Conference.

The Vancouver loss saw the Whitecaps slump to the foot of the table as their defeat, combined with the Colorado Rapids win over the Earthquakes, moved the Rapids off the bottom. Diego Rubio was on target in the 77th minute for Colorado to keep San Jose in fourth place.

LAFC are 13/8 to win the MLS Cup with the Sounders 20/1 and Revolution 40/1.
