Smith thrilled to land Trezeguet
Aston Villa boss Dean Smith believes Trezeguet can be a success in the Premier League after signing the Egypt international for an undisclosed transfer fee.
The 24-year-old winger moves to Villa Park from the Turkish side Kasimpasa having previously played for Al Ahly in his homeland, Anderlecht and Mouscron.
Smith said of a player who has been representing his country at this summer's Africa Cup of Nations: "We're really excited to work with Trez. I've watched him a number of times.
"He's the type of wide player that we've been looking for who is direct, causes problems for the opposition in the final third and scores goals."
Meanwhile, Trezeguet has revealed that he spoke with his fellow countryman Ahmed Elmohamady before deciding to sign for Villa.
He said: "Ahmed is a good friend of mine. He's like my brother, who I've played in the national team with for five years. He's my captain and always speaks with me about Aston Villa, saying it's an amazing club and that I'd be happy here.
"I asked him a lot of questions. He will help me and believes I will help the team. It will help having him here with me and I look forward to working with him again.
"I'm looking forward to playing in the Premier League - it's a dream."
Villa are 2/5 not to be relegated this season and 11/1 to win their first game of the campaign against Tottenham on 10th August.
