Club skipper Alex Brosque could be asked to stave off a retirement decision and play one more season with Sydney FC.

Coach Steve Corica praised the 35-year-old after he netted his first A-League hat-trick to help beat Central Coast 5-2 at Jubilee Oval.

Brosque's dazzling treble came in a four-goal, 15-minute spell that also saw Adam le Fondre bag his 10th of the season from the penalty spot.

It powered the Sky Blues to a fourth consecutive win, setting them up for a crack at leaders Perth Glory next time out.

Corica admits he might try to convince Brosque, who brought up his 200th game for the club at the end of last season and considered retirement at that point, to stay for another campaign.

The coach had pencilled Brosque in to come off the bench for him this season, admitting: "When I spoke to him and I knew I had the job, we really wanted to use him off the bench. But with Trent (Buhagiar) getting injured, and we haven't replaced him yet with another striker, he seems to have taken all the brunt up front with Adam (le Fondre).

"He's doing a great job and I'm very pleased for him that he's obviously stayed on for another year, maybe convince him to stay one more year off the bench next year."

Brosque, who rejoined Sydney FC for a second spell in 2014 and is in the top 15 of A-League appearances, got the club's equaliser against a 10-man Mariners side.

He scored early in the second half with an exquisite back-heel off a whizzing low cross, then got his second when he followed up to volley home after keeper Ben Kennedy had saved his initial header.

His third was an excellent chip over the goalkeeper, taking him to six goals for the season.

Corica said his performance had been "unbelievable", adding: "[He] took his goals very well, especially the last one - I thought he was superb."

Meanwhile, Australia areĀ 13/2 to win the Asian Cup.
