Silva pleased to keep Baines
Veteran former England left-back Leighton Baines has signed a new one-year contract with Everton and remains an important member of Marco Silva's squad.
The 34-year-old only featured in six Premier League games last season, with Lucas Digne taking over as the first-choice left-back for the Toffees.
Leighton showed in my first season that we can rely on him to perform at a high level whenever he plays.

However, head coach Silva believes that Baines still has plenty to offer both on and off the pitch, having been at Goodison Park for well over a decade - during which time he has made more than 400 appearances in all competitions.
The Portuguese told his club's official website: "It was vital for me to keep Leighton at Everton and I am very pleased to finalise his contract before we return for pre-season.
"Leighton is part of the club's fabric and a top-class professional. Most importantly, Leighton is still an exceptionally good footballer and features in our vision for what we want to achieve at Everton.
"Leighton showed in my first season that we can rely on him to perform at a high level whenever he plays and he provides excellent competition for Lucas Digne."
Everton finished in eight place in the Premier League last season, narrowly missing out on a place in the Europa League for next season.
They failed to progress very far in either cup competition, losing at Millwall in the fourth round of the FA Cup and being beaten by Southampton in round three of the League Cup.
The Toffees are 7/2 to finish in the top six in the Premier League next season, while they are 20/1 to win the FA Cup.
