Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has rejected the claim by Super Eagles midfielder, Raheem Lawal that he played a key role in his omission from the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations squad.

Lawal on Monday via his official Instagram handle had allegedly accused Daniel Amokachi of dropping him from the squad due to the players he wanted to sell out during the competition, an allegation that Amokachi has denied.

However, Shorunmu in a chat with an online newspaper, stated that Lawal was basically omitted from the AFCON squad as a result of his attitude.

“I was not the Super Eagles coach at the time, I was just an assistant. Those who were not in the team then would not have known what happened there.

He said he’s Yoruba and I didn’t fight for him. I’d like to challenge him to tell the world what sort of advice I always offered him in camp. He’s no doubt a good player but what about his attitude?

“I used to warn him to be calm and not be aggressive when certain decisions didn’t go his way.
