NPFL : Shooting Stars End Six Games Winless Drought
Shooting Stars have finally ended their six-match win-less streak in the Nigeria Professional Football League as they piped second-placed Abia Warriors 2-0 in their Match Day 18 tie at the Lekan Stadium in Ibadan on Wednesday.
It was the duo of Kabir Umar and Muyiwa Lawal that gave the Oluyole Warriors some respite with their second half goals which has now given Shooting Stars their sixth win of the season.
The first half of the midweek clash in Ibadan ended in a stalemate thus making fans already getting agitated that it could yet be another bad day at the office for their darling team.
However, Umar netted the opening goal five minutes into the second half before Lawal doubled the advantage for the hosts with his 56thminute goal.
With the win, Shooting Stars now have 20 points from 18 games while for Abia Warriors, they are third on the log with 30 points from 17 games.
In other games, Coach Sam Okpodu was given something to cheer when his bottom club Ikorodu United piped his former club Warri Wolves 1-0 on Wednesday at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
