"She’s yet to make up her mind" Coach Justin Madugu on Edna Imade
Super Falcons Coach Justin Madugu has revealed that Spain's eligible Nigerian-born sensation, Edna Imade, is yet to make up her made concerning playing for Nigeria, Nigeriasoccermet.com reports.
There have been clamours to invite the prolific striker to the national team, who was in blistering form for Granada before her loan move to Real Sociedad after she joined Bayern Munich.
However, the 60-year-old Coach, while responding to questions before the Benin Republic encounter, revealed that Imade has not made up her mind on which country to play for.
Madugu confirmed that approaches have been made for the player which she is aware of, but an interest from the Spanish national team may have delayed the player's decision.
He stated that Edna is welcome to the team whenever she is ready, as he wants the best players to play for Nigeria.
She had an excellent season with Granada and is doing well at Real Sociedad. Despite our efforts, writing to her club and reaching out through players in Spain, she’s yet to make up her mind. Whatever she decides, we respect her decision.”
“I was reliably informed she was initially keen on playing for Nigeria. I just hope her reps aren’t making things difficult due to reported interest from Spain. We value her talent and would gladly give her the chance to represent her fatherland,” Madugu added.
Meanwhile, reports from Spain say that the Spanish national team is working to finalise the papers for Edna Imade to play for them.
Imade already has six goals in six games for Real Sociedad, getting nominated for the Liga F player of the month award.
