Schalke stuttering in explaining Kevin-Prince Boateng's absence in Wolfsburg draw
Schalke have been struggling to explain the exclusion of Kevin-Prince Boateng from the squad that held Wolfsburg to a 1-1 draw as reports keep spreading of the imminent exit of the Ghanaian.
The 28-year-old was not part of the Royal Blues squad that traveled to the Volkswagen Arena on Sunday.
Boateng has been a subject of intense transfer speculation in Germany since his form started dipping this season.
The former AC Milan star has failed to live up to high billing ever since arriving two seasons ago.
The club has now been struggling to come clear on the reasons for the Ghanaian’s exclusion from the weekend’s game at Wolfsburg.
Schalke had initially claimed that Boateng will be unavailable due to a muscle problem only for its Twitter feed to contrast by saying he was ill.
The club later had to come out in a desperate attempt to clear the confusion to say he was suffering from a thigh strain.
The club’s confused explanation shows clear intent to ship off the Ghanaian at the end of the current campaign with the only sticking point being how much he would be sold for.
