Maurizio Sarri is determined to stick to his guns with Chelsea, while admitting that it will take time to get things working perfectly at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian coach took charge of the Blues in the summer and got off to a flying starts as the Blues were unbeaten in their first 12 Premier League games of the campaign.

First of all, I want to see my football played very well, then we can go to change something.

However, the Londoners have struggled more recently and back-to-back league losses to Arsenal and Bournemouth have seen them drop to fifth place in the standings and the wrong side of the Champions League qualifying line.

Sarri, though, refuses to be drawn into making major changes to his tactics, telling reporters ahead of a Saturday visit from rock-bottom Huddersfield Town: "I want to do very well the Plan A, I think. I don't want to change something that, at the moment, doesn't work very well.

"First of all, I want to see my football played very well, then we can go to change something.

"Everybody ten years ago knew Barcelona very well, but Barcelona still won everything because they played their football very well."

Chelsea are currently priced at 4/6 to finish in the top four this season, with Arsenal available at 11/5 and Manchester United 7/4.

Meanwhile, Sarri has voiced his hopes that he will be given time to get things right, pointing to the examples of Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, who appear to be benefitting from showing patience with their coaching staff.

He added: "English football is in the hands of these teams because they had a plan and they were patient.

"In one, the coach arrived five years ago, in another three years ago and in the other two years ago."
