Santiago Bernabeu leads race to host 2030 World Cup final

The Santiago Bernabeu is currently the leading candidate to stage the 2030 World Cup final, according to journalist Jose Felix Diaz.

The home of Real Madrid is understood to be FIFA’s preferred option for the tournament’s showpiece match, ahead of rival venues. Its position is reportedly strengthened by the stadium’s modern renovation and its historic standing in world football.

The proposed allocation of the competition’s biggest matches is also beginning to take shape. Barcelona and Casablanca would host the two semi-finals, creating a symbolic and geographical balance between Spain and Morocco, two of the countries co-hosting the tournament.

No final decision has yet been officially confirmed by the international football authorities. However, the emerging plan suggests that Madrid could stage the decisive match of what would be a historic 2030 World Cup.

A final at the Bernabeu would bring the tournament’s biggest fixture back to the stadium 48 years after Italy defeated West Germany there in the 1982 World Cup final.
