Borussia Dortmund are considering bringing back former winger Jadon Sancho, although concerns over his physical condition and the financial terms of a potential contract mean no final decision has been made, according to BILD.

The Bundesliga club are assessing whether to re-sign the England international after he became a free agent. However, any agreement would reportedly require Sancho to give up a signing-on fee and accept a salary heavily linked to his performances.

That structure would make the deal dependent on Sancho’s output rather than guaranteeing him a substantial fixed wage. Dortmund are also understood to have reservations about his current fitness, adding another factor to their deliberations.

The club has not yet reached a definitive conclusion on whether to pursue the move. The possibility of Sancho returning remains under consideration, but BILD’s report indicates that both his physical condition and the proposed terms would need to satisfy Dortmund before the transfer could go ahead.

Sancho, 26, left Manchester United last summer and is currently without a club. He joined the English side in 2021 and made 83 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists.

A return to Dortmund would represent a potential comeback to the club where Sancho previously established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young attacking players. However, the reported interest remains at the consideration stage, with Dortmund yet to make a final decision.

For now, the main obstacles are understood to be the player’s fitness and the financial framework of the proposed contract. Rather than receiving a signing-on payment and a salary largely guaranteed in advance, Sancho would reportedly have to accept conditions in which his earnings were strongly influenced by his performances.

The report does not indicate that an agreement has been reached between the player and the club. Sancho remains a free agent, while Dortmund continue to weigh up whether the benefits of re-signing him would outweigh the concerns surrounding his physical readiness and the terms required to complete a deal.
