Saints future bright - Redmond
Forward Nathan Redmond believes Southampton can build 'something special' in the future, having signed a new four-year contract with the Saints.
The 25-year-old former Birmingham City and Norwich City star moved to the South Coast in the summer of 2016 and has since racked up 129 appearances in all competitions, scoring 18 goals.
I feel like we can hopefully build something special and to be a part of it for the next four years is good for me.
Nathan Redmond
He enjoyed an upturn in form last season following the arrival of new head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl and was included in the preliminary England squad for the Nations League finals, although he missed the cut for the final 23-man squad.
Redmond told his club's official website: "I'm really happy to have signed. I feel like we can hopefully build something special and to be a part of it for the next four years is good for me."
Southampton open their Premier League season with a trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley on Saturday afternoon, with a draw in Lancashire available at 11/5.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have also announced a major contract signing, with Scotland midfielder John McGinn putting pen to paper on a new five-year deal.
The 24-year-old moved to Villa Park a year ago from Hibernian and was a key member of the side who secured promotion back to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.
McGinn commented: "I have loved every minute of my time at Aston Villa and I am delighted to commit myself to the club for the long term."
Villa and McGinn start life back in the top-flight with a visit to Tottenham Hotspur at teatime on Saturday, with Spurs having won eight of the last nine meetings of the two sides.
The Villans are 8/1 to keep a clean sheet in the capital, while they are 4/9 not to be relegated come the end of the season.
