Sadiq Umar pushes Real Sociedad to win with screamer against Sevilla
Nigeria's Super Eagles forward, Sadiq Umar scored what became the decider as Real Sociedad defeated Sevilla in the Spanish La Liga match day 13 match on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The former Almeria man ended his goal drought after 15 months with a wonderful strike to help his side beat 9-man Sevilla 2-1 at the Anoeta Stadium.
Marko Dmitrovic put the ball in his own net 4 minutes into the encounter to give the host the lead before the Nigerian added one more 18 minutes later.
Umar went pass two red shirts before hitting a thunderous strike from outside the box to end his long spell without a goal since returning from injury.
Youssef En-Nesyri reduced the deficit in the 60th minute of the match, but any hope of a comeback for the Los Nervionenses became difficult after Sergio Ramos and Jesus Navas was given the match orders in the 88 and 89 minutes.
Meanwhile, Umar was substituted in the 74th minute of the game.
Real Sociedad go 5th with the win after 25 points, 9 points adrift league leaders, Real Madrid while Sevilla are 15th with 12 points.
