Save for a late Mubarak Wakaso winner for Ghana, our neighbours Rwanda held their own against the African giants when the two sides faced off in their Afcon 2017 Qualifier last weekend in Kigali.

But after the game, the fans – young and old flocked the pitch to share a moment with Swansea forward Andrew Ayew.

There isn’t anything spectacular Ayew did in the game that would call for an endorsement from rival fans and it can’t be just because he’s playing in England’s elite league, for Ghana have many of those including Dede’s own brother Jordan at Aston Villa.

Perhaps, the fans were thanking him for ripping Manchester United apart when the Ghanaian scored one and set up Bafetimbi Gomis as Swansea beat Manchester United 2-1 in their English Premier League encounter two weeks ago at the Liberty Stadium. The Swans were on fire.

By the way, Ayew like a true son of Africa knows how to give back.

He distributed copies of the Swansea vs. Newcastle match-day programme that featured his profile.

Even our own photographer Aminah Babirye came home with one.
