Rusell: Dessers' injury not serious
Rangers manager Russell Martin has provided a positive update on the injury status of striker Cyriel Dessers, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Dessers suffered a knee injury during Tuesday's UEFA Champions League qualifying round tie against Viktoria Plzen and was substituted in the 54th minute.
Initially, the 30-year-old was expected to be sidelined for an extended period, but Martin revealed that the injury is not as severe as initially thought.
“Cyriel Dessers’ injury was not as bad as we thought; he is still sore, but he will be back in the coming weeks,” he told the press.
This news will be a welcome relief for Rangers as they prepare to face Alloa Athletic in the Premier Sports Cup Round of 16 tie at Ibrox on Saturday.
The update provides a boost to the Rangers' squad ahead of the crucial match, and Martin's comments suggest that Dessers could be back in action sooner than expected.
